I really enjoy visiting fatCupid in Langkawi because the food has always been delicious every time I've been there. Our friends recommended it to us, saying it's one of the top restaurants on the island, and I have to agree with them based on my experiences.
The store fatCupid can be found within the premises of La Pari P
Don't bother visiting cafes or Western restaurants in Kuah town or Pantai Cenang because they can't compare to the food at fatCupid. I can confidently say that the quality of the food at fatCupid has remained consistent over the past four years, even after the pandemic.
Special Selection Plate
We decided to try the Signature Tasting Plate (RM28) for sharing, which includes pizza bianco, bruschetta, and fried wontons. While it wasn't anything exceptional, it's a good choice for a snack if you're looking to enjoy some beer or cocktails.
Peranakan Laksa
Combining egg noodles and vermicelli is a great choice!
I have always liked the Nyonya Laksa at fatCupid because the broth is flavorful and rich, with a good amount of spice and coconut milk. It comes with options for egg noodles or rice vermicelli, tofu puffs, hard-boiled egg, shredded chicken, and long beans, all mixed together.
Whenever I eat at fatCupid, I always order the same dish because the serving size is generous and the flavors are strong. It can be very spicy for those who are sensitive to heat, so if you fall into that category, you may need to cool down with a cold beer. Despite the spiciness, it is definitely worth trying.
Deep-fried fish
Batter made
When Jien visits the restaurant, he usually chooses between the Fish & Chips for RM25 or the Nyonya Chicken Curry for RM26. Both dishes are delicious, but he personally prefers the fish. The beer-battered batter on the fish is light and crispy, and the fish itself is meaty, providing a satisfying bite. Overall, Jien still prefers the fish over the chicken curry.
Peranakan Chicken Curry
The Nyonya Chicken Curry is believed to have originated from the chef/owner's grandmother. Although it is flavorful, it does not meet my preference for Nyonya chicken curry, which I prefer to be more robust like the Malacca peranakan style that my mother-in-law makes.
With that being said, this dish is quite tasty for those who are not particularly fond of Nyonya curry like Jien and me. It includes stir-fried vegetables, an omelette, and white rice. The portion size is smaller when compared to the laksa and fish & chips.
In Langkawi, alcohol is much more affordable, making it a great choice to enjoy beer and cocktails at fatCupid. I can't recall the exact number I had, but I think the prices range from RM10 for a beer to RM15 and up for a cocktail. Keep an eye out for fatCupid as it can be a bit tricky to locate, so use Waze and be aware of your surroundings. Look for La Pari Pari, as the restaurant is situated within the same premises.
The atmosphere of the restaurant is rated at 6.5 out of 10, the prices are rated at 6 out of 10, and the food (which is pork-free) is rated at 6.5 out of 10. Overall, the reviewer enjoys going to this restaurant for their Nyonya laksa. They hope that the food will continue to be just as delicious during their next
