We Tried Kai Xi Hor Fun & Lamb Satay Pizza From 1More Pizza To See If They Taste Legit Or Not

Malaysia is known for its rich lineup of traditional dishes, from char kuey teow to nasi lemak. But turning kai xi hor fun into a pizza? That’s a combination most people probably have never even dreamed of.

Originating from Brunei and now located in Taman Paramount, 1More Pizza already has some pretty standout pizza toppings on their menu. But they’ve recently launched three special flavours as part of a collaboration with Daniel Dines KL that has our attention – the Kai Xi Hor Fun and Peanut Satay Lamb pizza, available from 10th February to 10th April 2026.

Two limited-time Malaysian pizza flavours

While we were guided to our seats, our eyes were drawn immediately to the star of the space: the wood-fired oven, found right smack in the centre of the shop.

Designed with an open kitchen concept, 1More Pizza invites diners to grab a seat at the bar counter for a front-row view of all that cooking action. From kneading, tossing, and stretching the dough, followed by the careful layering of ingredients, you will get to watch the entire pizza-making process unfold before your eyes, before the pizza is slid straight into the blazing-hot oven.

Small warning, by sitting at the bar counter, you will feel the fiery heat coming from the oven, but overall, the shop is strongly air-conditioned.

Kai Xi Hor Fun Pizza

Kai Xi Hor Fun pizza

For the uninitiated, Kai Xi Hor Fun (鸡丝河粉), also known as shredded chicken hor fun, is famous for its silky flat rice noodles served in a savoury broth made from chicken stock and prawn shells. Traditionally, the dish includes shredded chicken, prawns, bean sprouts, spring onions, and fried shallots.

When the Kai Xi Hor Fun Pizza arrived, it checked the boxes for ingredients, with visible shredded chicken as toppings, while plump prawns lay hidden beneath the meat. Slivers of shallot were scattered across the base, adding a subtle aroma to the pizza.

The fragrant shallot ginger oil, infused with chives and garlic, was served in a separate container, so diners have the option to drizzle it over the pizza accordingly and customise the intensity of flavour to their liking.

The pizza arrived pre-sliced, something not all Neapolitan pizzerias practise, making it easy to share right away. There was no dramatic cheese pull, as the fior de latte was lightly scattered over the top rather than layered generously.

Flavour-wise, the Kai Xi Hor Fun element was not particularly pronounced. We found that the sweetness of the prawn overshadowed the overall taste profile of the pizza. The shredded chicken was fairly mild and could have been more generously portioned, and the scallions were used sparingly as well.

Overall, the pizza plays it safe, and it didn’t fully commit to what one might expect from Kai Xi Hor Fun, nor did it strongly embody a Chinese-fusion identity.

What truly stood out to us was the shallot ginger oil. It tasted remarkably similar to the classic dipping sauce served with poached white chicken that consists of a fragrant mix of minced garlic, chopped scallions, salt, and hot sizzling oil. In fact, it was so addictive that we found ourselves enjoying the shallot ginger oil on its own.

For pricing, the 9-inch Kai Xi Hor Fun Pizza is priced at RM35, while the 12-inch version costs RM48.

Xin Yee: The shallot ginger oil condiment is a must – it really brings out the flavours of Kai Xi Hor Fun.
Leann: The quality of the pizza was worth the price, but the taste was underwhelming.
Ming-Xuan: Not what I expected from the pizza, as there wasn’t a strong Kai Xi Hor Fun taste. The shallot ginger oil was my MVP.

Peanut Satay Lamb Pizza

Peanut Satay Lamb Pizza

The other pizza we tried was the Peanut Satay Lamb. The pizza was covered in grilled lamb cubes, and the usual accompaniments you’d expect from an order of satay: cucumbers, coriander, and onions.

The star element of any satay spread is also on this pizza, which the restaurant dubs as Kajang-style peanut sauce. Fior de latte was also present in this dish, but similarly to the previous pizza, there was no dramatic cheese pull in this pizza either.

On first bite, the lamb delivered a distinctly savoury punch that would appeal to those who enjoy bold flavours, but without that strong gamey aftertaste.

The cucumbers, onions, and coriander stayed true to the satay inspiration, adding a refreshing contrast, though they didn’t particularly elevate the overall pizza flavour.

As for the peanut sauce, it wasn’t drizzled generously enough to our liking, and took more of a backseat in terms of flavour. The nuttiness only becomes noticeable when we reach the crust, where the sauce is more concentrated.

We almost forgot that this pizza was meant to be a Peanut Satay Lamb Pizza, as the flavours leaned more heavily towards lamb than the distinct peanut sauce that comes with satay.

For pricing, the 9-inch Peanut Satay Lamb Pizza is priced at RM36, while the 12-inch version costs RM49.

Xin Yee: The overall flavour is smoky-sweet, with tender pieces of lamb – yumz.
Leann: It didn’t quite hit the spot, but the meat was well-cooked with no gamey taste.
Ming-Xuan: I like this more as the lamb was good, but I forgot that it was a satay-inspired pizza due to the lack of peanut sauce.
