Exploring Sarawak Flavors at Lin Li Xiang in Damansara Jaya: A Culinary Adventure

My family and I decided to switch up our weekend meal routine and try out Lin Li Xiang in Damansara Jaya, as it was conveniently located on our way home from my sister's piano lesson. We had noticed this restaurant before and had been meaning to try it for over a year.

Lin Li Xiang restaurant, located in Damansara, is a popular dining spot.

Lin Li Xiang is known for their expertise in cooking traditional Sarawakian dishes and also offers some dishes from the Foochow or Hock Chew cuisine, like "chao zhu mian". We were able to sample a variety of dishes because we had our young daughters with us, who are always eager to try new and adventurous foods.

Kolo Mee is a

Elastic noodles with a generous portion of oil made from animal fat to enhance the taste and smell.

The Kolo Mee dish, priced at RM11.90 for a small and RM13.90 for a large, was very tasty. We decided to order a large portion assuming there would be leftovers for our two daughters, but we only got a small taste each. The noodles were bouncy and, despite looking dry, had a rich flavor from the pork lard oil. Overall, it was a great dish.

Kiaw soup

I decided to order a serving of soup dumplings to share, which cost RM11 for a regular size and RM14 for a large size. I have never been a fan of dumplings like kiaw or wantan, as I often find that the meat filling is not enough compared to the amount of dough. However, at Lin Li Xiang, the dumplings are small but generously filled with minced pork, and they are also delicious.

How about we discuss Sarawak Laksa?

Sarawak Laksa is a type of

The reason I wanted to visit Lin Li Xiang was because I heard their Sarawak Laksa was really good. The regular size costs RM13.90 and the large size costs RM15.90. In my opinion, it is the best Sarawak Laksa I have tried in the Klang Valley area. I personally like it more than the Salted version, although I also think that one is good. I find it tastier than Aunty Christina's version, but ultimately it comes down to personal preference.

Hearty, flavorful, and delicious broth. It's sure to whet your appetite.

Lin Li Xiang's rendition of Sarawak Laksa has a well-balanced blend of spices, seasonings, and consistency, resulting in a flavorful and satisfying broth. The broth is hearty and delicious, making you want to savor every last bit. I appreciate that they provide a generous portion, especially since I ordered a large bowl, which is not common at other Sarawak Laksa eateries.

Unique Tomato Noodles

Jien ordered the Special Tomato Mee for RM15.90, and found it to be quite delicious. The dish consisted of thin egg noodles similar to yee mee, topped with a flavorful tomato gravy that was sweet, sour, and savory, thickened with starch. We also liked this dish. I heard someone from Kuching telling their friends that it tasted very authentic.

Fuzhou-style stir-fried noodles

Rich broth and chewy noodles. There isn't a strong alkaline flavor or aroma either!

The Foochow Fried Noodles at Lin Li Xiang have a taste that reminds me of the ones I usually eat in Sitiawan, but with slightly less wok hei. Despite that, the noodles were cooked well and had a nice al dente texture. I personally enjoyed the gravy at Lin Li Xiang more, giving them extra credit for their flavorful dish.

Tea with three

I tried the Three-Layer Tea (RM5.80) and found it to be decent. Although I would have preferred it to be more concentrated with evaporated milk, this particular version is among the better ones I have tried. The brown sugar syrup had a pleasant pandan fragrance that I enjoyed, and it was not overly sweet.

Relaxing atmosphere for eating

In my opinion, Lin Li Xiang is a good choice for Sarawakian cuisine in the Klang Valley area. It tends to be busy during meal times, so it's recommended to arrive early or slightly later. They also offer kuay chap, which appears to be authentic, but my companion and I don't enjoy eating offal, so we decided to skip that dish.

The atmosphere is rated at 6.5 out of 10, the prices are also rated at 6.5 out of 10, and the food is rated at 7.5 out of 10. This restaurant serves non-halal food. In my opinion, it has the best Sarawak Laksa and Kolo Mee that I have ever tasted

The Damansara branch of Restaurant Lin Li Xiang is located at 93G, Jalan SS 22/11, Damansara Jaya, 47400 Petaling Jaya. You can contact them at 03-7733 6693. The restaurant is open from 7.30am to 3pm and from 5pm to 11pm.

You might enjoy dining at Alta Pizza in Bangsar, Nam Hing Loong in Temoh, Leong Wei in Kuchai, Fatt Hei Len in Cheras, Wong Seng Kitchen in Taman Desa, or Mi Wantan Kedah on Jalan Lazat. Have you had the Sarawak Laksa at Charlie's Cafe in Taman Built Desa? I recently tried it and thought it could rival the one at Lin Li Xiang.

I have watched it before, but I didn't find it as enjoyable as Lin Li Xiang did.
