MyBurgerLab is known for their unique black burgers that cater to the hipster crowd in PJ. The burgers are created based on popular online recipes with their own twist. The buns are black and filled with tasty ingredients, served with fries and chilli mayo if you order a set. The hype on social media led us to try it out and we found that the foodies were onto something good that satisfied our cravings.
“I enjoy black buns and I cannot deny…”
Back in 2011, we initially reviewed a burger joint started by three ambitious individuals who wanted to create burgers that would appeal to food enthusiasts. Despite having limited funds to sustain themselves for only six months, they decided to attract customers by offering a unique burger in a black bun and creating a viral buzz around it. Their plan was successful as people started talking about it and flocking to their establishment. Years later, they are still operating and serving some of the best burgers in town. Co-founder Ren Yi ensures that he hires passionate and happy individuals to work with him, which is reflected in the taste and service provided at the restaurant.
We revisited myBurgerLab recently and had an enjoyable burger experience. For those who are new to this establishment, we suggest trying five of their burgers to fully understand the unique experience myBurgerLab offers. They are constantly experimenting with their burgers and improving their processes, such as using a flame torch to quickly melt cheddar cheese for faster service.
On the top right corner, there is The Bomb burger, which is a Cheddar Beef Burger with Sriracha sauce and a Sunny Side up Egg. It is similar to the one you would find at Ramly’s but even better. It is a simple and delicious option. On the left side, we have the Bulbasaur burger, inspired by the green Pokemon character. It is a fried chicken burger topped with green salsa, seaweed mayo, cheddar cheese, and an egg. It is a bit heavier to eat but still very flavorful. This burger is popular among Pokemon trainers for its unique theme. Overall, it has a well-balanced taste and the grilled chicken adds a nice touch.
At the bottom of the list is the burger that garnered a lot of chaos and attention. It is the Nasi Lemak Ayam Rendang Burger, which is essentially a fried chicken burger with sambal, egg, onions, chopped ikan bilis, and a flavorful rendang sauce on top. This burger successfully captures the essence of nasi lemak in burger form with its rich and spicy flavors. It is a fun and enjoyable dish to eat. On top of the list is MBL’s take on the In-N-Out Burger, featuring a beef patty with double sharp melted cheese and topped with mustard sauce and a secret sauce. This burger offers a nice beefy taste that is also loved by many.
The Ultraman burger at myBurgerLab is also a popular choice. It features a grilled chicken patty topped with Ayam Burger and Salted Duck Yolk. The burgers at myBurgerLab are known for being soft, with freshly baked black buns. They prioritize juicy, soft patties over firmer ones. Their burgers have a unique and fun twist to them, and they are not overly large. In the US, burgers of this size are called sliders. The sides are kept simple to complement the burger’s taste. Prices for burgers start at around RM18, with an additional RM7 for fries and drinks. If there is no queue at night, it means they have run out of burgers. Drinks and fun are unlimited with the set.
