Mahbub Restaurant is known for its delicious and flavorful Honey Chicken Biryani. They have been serving this mouth-watering dish since the 1970s and I have been a loyal customer for as long as I can remember.
There is no better dish than Briyani Ayam Madu, it is the best.
As soon as you walk into the busy restaurant, the aroma of Briyani greets you. The saffron scent is light but noticeable, coming from the large cooker next to a variety of dishes ready to be served with the flavorful and fluffy Briyani.
Mahbub is the only restaurant where I like to eat Ayam Madu. I usually don’t enjoy mixing sweet and savory flavors, but Mahbub has managed to do it perfectly. Their signature Briyani pairs perfectly with the dish, creating a unique and delicious combination that is hard to describe but I will do my best to explain.
Mahbub’s Honey Chicken Briyani is served with a side of smooth Dhal Curry for you to pour over your steaming Briyani. This adds a delicious twist to the dish! Additionally, your Briyani comes with a serving of pickled cucumbers. The tangy flavor of the pickles balances out the richness of the flavorful rice and honey chicken, preventing you from getting overwhelmed by the dish.
I really enjoy how they fry the Ayam Madu just right so that it stays moist and juicy without being overcooked. The chicken is covered in a delicious kuah madu that is sweet, spicy, and slightly smoky, giving it a perfect coating while still maintaining its crispiness. As a mamak restaurant, they offer a variety of food options. For a lighter meal, I suggest trying the Nasi Dhal, which has a texture similar to Nasi Minyak and is available from 5pm onwards. If you’re in the mood for Rojak, try the Rojak Ayam for a fancier option with crispy Mamak-style Fried Chicken and a thick, spicy, and smoky peanut sauce. It’s perfect for a late-night supper!
