The Evolution of Valentine’s Light and Airy Roti Canai: A Guilt-Free Indulgence

The Evolution of Valentine’s Light and Airy Roti Canai: A Guilt-Free Indulgence

Indulge in guilt-free Roti Canai at Valentine’s, with a lighter and crispier version perfect for late-night cravings.

“Roti that is fluffy and soft!”

When it comes to roti canai, my preference is for it to be crispy with a hint of fluffiness. There are many places in Klang Valley that serve this dish, but Valentine holds a special place in my heart.

Their product is made to be thin and crispy, almost weightless, making it a guilt-free snack option for late-night munching. It is satisfying without causing you to feel uncomfortably full. However, the downside is that it is so light that you may find yourself eating two without even realizing it, along with a packed meal of nasi lemak. But that’s a story for another time.

The son of the establishment is named Valentine, who is known for being calm and zen. He learned how to make their signature roti from his father. When we spoke to him one night, we were fortunate to see him toss the roti for us, and even his employees paused to watch. He handles the dough gently and with precision. His tossing is done with a light touch and style, resembling that of an artist. I quickly ordered the Roti Tissue or KLCC, which was served delicately and crispy, comparable to any pastry available.

Recently, they transformed their small hut into a fully-functioning store and expanded their menu to offer typical Indian coffee shop dishes such as fried items and soups. However, their specialty remains their roti, which is highly favored by customers.

Feel free to get creative and order the Roti Valentine at this place, which is a step up from a roti sardine with additional vegetables inside. It would make for a satisfying meal, and they also offer other variations of roti such as Roti Kaya, Planta, and a flavorful Masala Roti filled with seasoned potatoes.

I personally enjoy the sup ayam and sup kambing from their menu. They are packed with flavorful spices that give them a strong taste. It’s perfect for warming up on a chilly evening and slurping it down is quite satisfying.
