Chequers TTDI offers delicious Fried Chicken & Waffles that are a result of two brothers, Terence and Tim, opening the restaurant in 2014. Their inspiration came from their love for waffles, particularly sweet and savory ones. They decided to open the restaurant based on their family tradition of enjoying waffles made by their mother every morning. The taste of homemade waffles from their mother’s kitchen is something that they strive to recreate at Chequers TTDI.
“Tonight, we are going to have waffles for dinner!”
If you’re a big fan of waffles, then Chequers on a Waffle is the perfect place for you. They offer a wide variety of options that cater to all your waffle cravings.
Upon arriving at Chequers, we wasted no time and immediately ordered four different varieties of waffles. The first one we tried was the classic Fried Chicken and Waffles, which had a Malaysian twist to it. It was filled with turkey ham and topped with mozzarella, cheddar, honey mustard sauce, and cheese sauce. The waffle was made with garlic and scallions, adding extra flavor. It was a burst of flavors when we took a bite. Despite the numerous ingredients, they all complemented each other well. It’s a must-try for first-time visitors.
Moving on to our next dish, we decided to try the Mexican Fried Chicken & Waffles. This dish is a bit lighter than the previous one but still has a strong flavor. It consists of a Jalapeño and Corn Waffle topped with freshly fried chicken, honey glazed bacon, grilled capsicum, and served with tomato salsa on the side. It has a Tex-Mex influence in terms of flavor. The combination of flavors works well together, but be warned, it may be a bit overwhelming if eaten alone due to its heaviness and savory nature.
Following that delightful chaos, we suggested trying the Pulled BBQ Beef Ribs Waffles. This dish is one of the most filling out of the four options, with savory toppings like onion, capsicum, and mushroom. The star of the dish is the Pulled Barbecue Beef Ribs, which are tender and flavorful thanks to their secret marinade. This dish is a must-try for meat lovers, as the ribs steal the show and the waffle serves as the perfect base for all the delicious flavors.
We still have one more item to mention – the Melting Moments! This dish features a Pisang Goreng Waffle with chocolate chips, hand-battered fried bananas, and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The combination of crispy waffle, fluffy bananas, and creamy ice cream is truly satisfying.
In our opinion, it’s best to avoid dining alone and to always choose the Fried Chicken at this place.
